Sobre un cerro, a las afueras del pueblo de Pe\u00f1alba de Castro, dominando el paisaje circundante, se levantaba hace 2.000 a\u00f1os la ciudad romana de Clunia Sulpicia, una de las m\u00e1s importantes de la Hispania imperial. Su foro, sus termas, su bas\u00edlica o sus mercados, hoy en ruinas pero todav\u00eda apreciables, fueron anta\u00f1o recorridos por miles de ciudadanos, hasta 30.000 en la \u00e9poca de m\u00e1ximo esplendor de la urbe, all\u00e1 por el siglo I. Impresiona especialmente el teatro, bien conservado, con su grader\u00edo excavado en una ladera rocosa y capacidad para 10.000 espectadores. Cada verano acoge un animado festival de artes esc\u00e9nicas.<\/p>\n

\"texto<\/strong>The Roman city of Clunia Sulpicia, once one of the most important in imperial Hispania, rose on a hilltop 2,000 years ago, on the outskirts of the town of Pe\u00f1alba de Castro, overlooking the surrounding landscape. Its forum, thermal baths, basilica or markets, now in ruins but still noticeable, were once frequented by thousands of citizens, up to 30,000 in the city\u2019s heyday, back in the first century CE. The well-preserved theatre stands out with its grandstand dug into a rocky hillside which could seat up to 10,000 spectators. Each summer, it hosts a lively performing arts festival.

La ville romaine de Clunia Sulpicia, une des plus importantes de l\u2019Hispanie romaine, fut construite il y a 2000 ans. Son forum romain, ses thermes, sa basilique ou ses march\u00e9s, aujourd\u2019hui en ruine bien qu\u2019on puisse quand m\u00eame les identifier, furent autrefois parcourus par des milliers de citoyens, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 30000 personnes, quand la m\u00e9tropole vivait ses plus beaux jours, vers le Ier si\u00e8cle. Son th\u00e9\u00e2tre est tr\u00e8s impressionnant et bien conserv\u00e9, avec ses gradins creus\u00e9s dans le versant rocheux qui pouvaient recevoir 10000 spectateurs.
